I'm ba-ack!

As time went by, I totally forgot that I had this place. I'm been doing a lot of posting on Facebook and maybe it's for the best that I post things here.b

First and foremost, the aftermath of the MA Special Election is HUGE. I wonder if perhaps it might dawn on that Dems that dismissing citizens who are concerned about their taxes, by calling them "teabaggers" may have had a hand in the anger we are seeing. Never underestimate a voter scorn and it's never a good idea to actually create scorned voters. They frown on that in the world of political strategy....at least when I was taking the classes.

The Breakup

OK.... I'm not into chick flicks. I know that I am somehow betraying the sisterhood by saying this....but I'm not. I mean, there are certain ones like "Steel Magnolias" that I will stop and watch no matter when or where...but "The Notebook"? LAME! That's just how I am. Anyhow, I don't get to see many movies that don't involve an endearing animal or kids meal fast food tie in. That's just how I roll these days. So when an opportunity presented itself to see a grown-up real honest to goodness picture, I jumped at the chance.

My genre of choice will always be comedy. I was also firmly on the side of Team Aniston when Brad went and shacked up with Angelina and her orphanage. I'm no fan of her politics but what happened was horrifying and public and so sudden after those happy pics of her and Brad on the beach; I couldn't help but feel for the girl....not only that, Brad aside... If Jennifer Aniston can lose her man like that, none of us are completely safe, that's for sure.

I really was in the mood to laugh with my handsome hubby at my side. We bought tickets for the show that had been sold out most of the day. We still had an hour til show time so we went across the street to the "Fox and Hound" for Bushmills and a twist of lime for him and Diet Coke and Lime for me. We had fun for a bit and then strolled back to the theatre to take our seats. BTW, I highly recommend a http://www.harkinstheatres.com/ experience. They have a HUGE military discount which will always earn my loyalty ($6.50 admission) and their theatres are simply kick ass.

Since it was a "couples" movie (translation = CHICK FLICK) it was hard to get two seats together since it was nothing be two people sitting together - empty seat - two people sitting together - repeat. We sat in the front row with no other options...although I did offer to see about switching our tickets to X-Men since I know Shane wanted to see that one. He declined and we settled in.

The beginning was promising with pics of the "happy couple" back when they were happy. After that it became pretty uncomfortable and a NON-COMEDY. It was really like sitting in our friends' living room when they're totally pissed at each other. Like that couple every one knows...the one that you can't tell if she's a bitch because he drinks or if he drinks because she's a bitch...it just completely deteriorates from there...but it's a formula that strays from the formula but everyone wishes stayed old hat.... plus a lot of Jens private drama reads into some of her speeches and almost seemed too personal. Not only that two completely random non-prime time swear words were added awkwardly I believe to attain a PG-13 rating...not that I'm anti swear words at all....they just sounded weird coming from Jennifer.

I won't spoil the ending however it's widely reported that they had rework the ending because the screening audience hated the original. I can report honestly that the crowd I was with last night (and I mean the CROWD...sold out theatre, not some pretentious group of my friends) LOATHED the end of this one. People groaned and threw popcorn. Many were complaining all the way out to the parking lot about how terrible it was. I've never experienced that before and I was all 3 of the most recent "Star Wars" installments

See it at your own risk.... I'm just saying.....

Sweeps

The end of the televsion year is upon us...even though nowadays it just marks the start of the new summer season (where the remaining "E-Ring"...which I liked... and "Commander in Chief"... which I loathed....will be burned off into cancellation oblivian). Bravo's shows have already started to end....Such as the "Real Housewives of Orange County" and "Blow Out"...

There are some that I'm really looking forward to. I can't wait for "NCIS" since spoilers say we're losing someone else this finale in the manner that we lost Caitlin Todd....I'm thinkin that we're going to lose Agent David since it really streches my credibility meter that the Mosad would send an agent to hang out with the NCIS....

"The Unit" better let us see what's going on with Tiffy and the Colonel soon. Since "Security" when we saw her open the door to someone (after she refused to end it when the Colonel watnted to) but not necessarily THE colonel left us hanging, nothing's been mentioned. DON"T DO THAT. I'm totally invested in this show and I'm pleased that it's holding it's own against "American Idol"....

"Grey's Anatomy" is of course my Sunday Night MUST SEE TV. It doesn't matter what happens on the show, I just can't get enough of it. I wonder if we're finally beginning to see the end of Addison/McDreamy. I'm thinking she's going to start knocking boots with Alex. A lot of passion between those two. Time will tell! Meredith interests me the least which is weird because she's the main character but Chris O'Donnell might perk things up for me. I've adored him since he became train

I used to be all about "Desperate Housewives" but it's kind of put me off this season. Bree's drinking thing just seems so everything Bree is not. Andrew's sordid allegations were disgusting. Now the direction of the Applewhite story has almost driven me to not watch the show. It's just icky. I do like that we're seeing a little growth out of Gabby but still....this show is somewhat on probation with me.

I've totally been diging "Top Chef" and "The Real Housewives". I really really really can't relate to the Real Housewives at all and I swear that most of the kids and some of the wives need to be drowned. Jo, the kept woman's, engagement ring costs almost as much as my house. How can I possibly feel their pain?

And this season's Grand Finale of "The West Wing". I'm curious to see how the Josh/Donna thing will finally play out. We already know from an earlier episode that CJ and Danny get married and have a kid. I'll admit that I'm not really into the Santos administration although I love the idea of Vinick as the Secretary of State.

Well I'll be back with what I think of some of these finales really soon!

Illegals.. I don't know what to think

I'm from Phoenix which of course is one of the Illegal Immigrant hubs of the country. They don't bother me. Most of them are as honest and hard working as the day is long. They do hard, hot, dirty work that I honestly don't think most Americans want any part of. Most of them simply want a better life for themselves and their families. Who wouldn't? I know that if I had to chose between a desperate existance in Mexico and a desperate exisitance in America, I'd make a run across the border as well. I truly can't blame them. Most of them know the drill. There was a group literally walking across the flightline at Huachuca (located smack dab on the border) and all it took was to Shane and Mike to yell "Hey!". They dropped to the ground and put their hands behind their back. Obviously, they'd done this before. Like I said, I can't blame them....heck I'd love to swap all of our welfare kings and queens (not people who get welfare...I'm talking about people who expect welfare to take care of them for their whole lives) for a bunch of the illegals because the illegals for the most part want to work and improve their lives...but they are also targets of exploitation as far of how they're paid and work conditions and that is wrong as well...

Then there are the issues of the pourous border. A friend who works for the Border Patrol said that it isn't the Mexicans who are an issue really, it's everyone else. I never realized it growing up but people from all countries stream in through AZ, CA, NM and Texas....From all of Latin and South American and China, Vietnam, Laos, India, Pakistan, Former Soviet block nations, all over....that truly makes it a National Security issue (it is a fact that some middle eastern border crossers were turned in by Mexican border crossers because they know they're screwed if a terrorist makes it across and blows something up)....but why should they get to jump the line over people who go about it the legal way and apply for residency and then citizenship. Fair is fair and if someone from Britain or Canada has to jump through all the hoops why shouldn't it be the same for people from everywhere else???I don't know.....I really am so torn....this jumps political idealologies for the most part.....I just want to know what other people think about this....
